Work With Us
CURRENT PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS

At Hennessy Legacy Collective, we believe collaboration deepens truth-telling, strengthens culture, and brings community creativity to life. We welcome partnerships with artists, storytellers, cultural practitioners, organisations and community groups whose values align with healing, connection and legacy.

Whether it’s co-creating artwork, delivering workshops, developing programs or building meaningful community-led projects, we invite collaborators who walk with respect, curiosity and heart.

Our Projects

At Hennessy Legacy Collective, our current projects reflect our commitment to healing through story, culture and connection. Each project is guided by legacy, grounded in culture, and shaped through ethical, community-led collaboration that respects story ownership.

THE BLACK COCKATOO PROJECT
A Homecoming of Story, Sound & Silence

The Black Cockatoo Project is a living tribute to the poetry of Glen Hennessy, a homecoming of words, land and memory.

Guided by legacy and grounded in culture, this project brings Glen’s writing into shared space through a multi-sensory exhibition experience that invites audiences to feel story, not just read it.

The showcase features mixed-medium artworks created in collaboration with First Nations artists who respond to Glen’s poems through their own creative language. Each artwork stands as both an interpretation and an extension of his words, honouring the spirit of his storytelling while giving it new form, texture and life.

Every artwork is paired with a selected poem, inviting reflection, listening and connection.

This project honours:

  • Glen Hennessy’s gentle strength as a storyteller

  • The healing lineage of the Hennessy family

  • Malyangapa, Barkindji and Darkinjung Country

  • The enduring connection between land, language and memory

THE SHOWCASE

Youth Story Telling, and Creative Expression

The Showcase is a creative program delivered by Hennessy Legacy Collective that supports young people to share their stories through film, photography, audio, digital art and culturally grounded storytelling.

The program creates safe, supported spaces where young people can explore identity, culture and lived experience using modern digital tools, while being guided by cultural respect, consent and story ownership.

We welcome collaboration with schools, youth services, artists and community partners who share a commitment to empowering young people to find their voice and tell their stories with confidence.

What the Showcase Is

The Showcase also operates as a multi-sensory exhibition platform that brings stories to life through mixed-medium art, culture and creative expression.

Each showcase invites audiences into a space of reflection, connection and listening — offering deeper insight into the voices, themes and experiences emerging from Hennessy Legacy Collective collaborations.

Showcases may include:

  • Digital stories

  • Visual and audio works

  • Community yarns and exhibitions

  • Youth-led storytelling presentations

LEGACY STORYTELLING
Story Held With Truth, Strength & Cultural Grounding

The Legacy Storytelling Project supports individuals, families and communities to share their personal and cultural stories in safe, guided and culturally informed ways.

Through yarning circles, writing, digital media and trauma-aware storytelling practices, participants are supported to explore identity, healing, family history and the moments that have shaped them.

Stories may be held privately, shared within community, or passed on to future generations, always with story ownership remaining with the storyteller, in line with our Ethics & Story Charter.

This project is about holding story with care, respect and responsibility.

Acknowledgment of Country

Hennessy Legacy Collective acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Darkinjung Country, where we live and work. We honour their enduring connection to land, waters, culture and story.

Our Malyangapa family originates from Barkindji Country, along the Barka River and the sacred grounds of Mutawintji. Today, Darkinjung Country is our home, and we walk here with respect and gratitude.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present, whose knowledge and leadership continue to guide our work. We commit to empowering future generations to carry culture forward with strength.
